Ballet Etudes II

Music for Ballet Class.

This album is formatted to accomodate the usual running order of ballet class, beginning with barre work and moving to centre practice, including pirouettes, adage, petit allegro, batterie and grand allegro.

Please note that barre selections are played twice, to provide music for both sides. Therefore, the music for "Pliés" is heard on tracks 1 and 2, "Battements tendus" on tracks 3 and 4, and so on to the end of the barre section (track 23&24).

While each selection is designated for a specific ballet exercise, instructors and students are encouraged to make their own choices, and try different exercises to meet their own needs and preferences.

Ballet Etudes II was recorded on Acrobat Music's Boston Steinway 618 grand piano, maintained by Wayne Ferguson. Jim Morgan uses AKG transformerless condensers in a V above the sound board through George Massenberg mike preamps and an Avalon compressor. Editing and final room tone and ambience were added on Steinberg Nuendo.
